成人抖音破解版’s Villa Maria School of Nursing was the proud recipient of a 12th Lotus Recognition, presented by the .
WCSI is an internationally recognized nonprofit organization that advances the philosophies, theories and practices of Caring Science, developed by Jean Watson, Ph.D., RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, LL (AAN). Caring Science is a “transdisciplinary approach that incorporates the art and science of nursing and includes concepts from the fields of philosophy, ethics, ecology and mind-body-spirit medicine.” The Lotus Recognition highlights organizations who commit to Caring Science Theory via the demonstration of “informed loving kindness” in their work.
Faculty within the Villa Maria School of Nursing implemented WCSI’s 10 Caritas Processes® into the senior practicum. The practice of reflecting on these processes is designed to help nurses embrace the caring aspects of their profession. Students mindfully journaled each week on one of the 10 processes, allowing them to contemplate the connection between Caring Science Theory and their own clinical practice. Students also visually represented their experiences and emotions through artistic activities like body tracings and pictographs. These activities are intentionally designed to merge the scientific aspects of nursing along with Caring Science Theory.
Watson was present for the virtual recognition ceremony at 成人抖音破解版’s Erie, Pa. campus on April 15, 2024.
“We are honored to receive the Lotus Recognition for our innovative integration of the 10 Caritas Processes® into our senior practicum. This approach not only enriches our students' learning experiences but also embodies our commitment to fostering holistic, compassionate care in nursing,” says Melissa L. Robertson MSN, RN, FNP-BC, CNE, Caritas Coach®, associate teaching professor in the Villa Maria School of Nursing.
“It truly warms my heart to witness the embodiment of Caring Science principles,” says Watson. “This approach not only enriches the educational experience of students but also signifies a profound commitment to nurturing authentic presence, empathy, and holistic care in nursing practice. It is through initiatives like these that we cultivate the next generation of nurses who will continue to uphold the values of compassion and human connection in healthcare."
The Villa Maria School of Nursing’s receipt of this recognition further highlights the school’s commitment to providing holistic nursing care to individuals, groups, families and entire populations through community-based curriculum.
